Plantation Halloween 2026: The Fun, the Festivals & One Big Change Families Should Know

October 15, 2026

Looking for something fun to do with the family this fall? The City of Plantation has several exciting events planned for October 2026, including fall festivals, pumpkin activities, Trunk or Treat celebrations, and more. Whether you live in Plantation or are visiting from Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Sunrise, Davie, or another nearby community, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy the season.

The festivities kick off this weekend with the Family Fall Festival at Volunteer Park on Saturday, October 17. The following weekend, Saturday, October 24, brings even more family activities, including the Broward County Plant Affair, Pumpkin Patch in the Pool, and two Trunk or Treat celebrations.

However, there's one important change families should know about this year. The City of Plantation's annual Trunk-or-Treat at Pine Island Park on October 24 will be limited to Plantation residents only. In previous years, families from surrounding communities were welcome, but due to the event's growing popularity and space limitations, the city has decided to restrict attendance.

The good news is that families from neighboring communities still have options. Plantation Walk's Trunk or Treat Car & Truck Show is free and open to the public, making it a great alternative for those who want to join in the Halloween fun.

And the celebrations don't stop there! Halloween night brings another costume contest, and November offers even more opportunities to enjoy local events as the holiday season approaches.

Whether you're planning a family outing, looking for Halloween activities for the kids, or simply want to explore what's happening around Plantation, here's your guide to upcoming events, including dates, locations, admission costs, and important details to know before you go.

Family Fall Festival at Volunteer Park – Saturday, October 17

While October 24 offers plenty of activities, the fall festivities actually begin a week earlier with the City of Plantation's Family Fall Festival on Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Volunteer Park.

Presented by the City of Plantation and the Greater Plantation Chamber of Commerce, this family-friendly event has plenty to keep the kids entertained.

Families can enjoy a children's carnival, games, inflatables, a haunted house, costume contests, a DJ, arts and crafts, food, and exhibits from local police and fire departments. There will also be vendors and free Halloween bags for children.

Admission is $5 per person for ages 2 and older.

Unlike the city's October 24 Trunk-or-Treat, the Fall Festival listing does not mention a residents-only restriction. If you're planning to attend from a neighboring city, you may want to confirm eligibility with the organizers.

For additional information, contact Plantation Parks & Recreation at 954-452-2510.

With so many activities planned, this is a great opportunity to enjoy the fall season with family and friends before the following weekend's Halloween celebrations.

Saturday, October 24: Plants, Pumpkins, and Halloween Fun

With four events taking place throughout the day, families have several options depending on their interests and schedules. Whether you're looking for an outdoor activity in the morning or a place to take the kids trick-or-treating in the evening, here's a closer look at what each event has to offer.

Broward County Plant Affair – October 24 & 25

If you enjoy gardening or simply love having beautiful plants around your home, the Broward County Plant Affair is worth checking out.

The two-day event takes place at Volunteer Park, 12050 W. Sunrise Boulevard, on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

This annual plant sale is a fundraiser benefiting the Plantation Historical Society and its museum. Local growers and vendors will be on hand to offer a variety of plants and share their knowledge.

Whether you're an experienced gardener or just getting started, it's a nice opportunity to find something new for your garden while supporting a local organization.

Admission and parking fees are not specified in the city's event information, so you may want to confirm those details before attending.

And if your Saturday is already packed with Halloween activities, you can always visit the plant sale on Sunday instead.

Pumpkin Patch in the Pool – October 24

Here's a fun twist on a traditional pumpkin patch!

The Pumpkin Patch in the Pool takes place at the Plantation Aquatics Complex, 9151 NW 2nd Street, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Instead of searching for pumpkins in a field, children get to pick their pumpkins right out of the swimming pool. Afterward, they can enjoy pumpkin carving and take festive photos with hay bales and a tractor.

Admission is $5 per person or $10 with one pumpkin included, and advance registration is required.

The city's event listing does not specify whether participation is limited to Plantation residents. If you're bringing guests from another city, I recommend asking about eligibility when registering.

For registration and additional information, call Plantation Parks & Recreation at (954) 452-2525.

Since this event ends at noon, families will have plenty of time to grab lunch, relax, or get those Halloween costumes ready before the evening festivities begin.

Evening Trunk or Treat Events in Plantation – October 24

For families looking forward to Halloween costumes, decorated cars, and plenty of candy, there are two Trunk or Treat celebrations taking place that evening.

As mentioned earlier, the important difference is that one is open to the public while the other is limited to Plantation residents.

Plantation Walk Trunk or Treat Car & Truck Show

The Plantation Walk Trunk or Treat Car & Truck Show takes place from 4 to 8 p.m., with candy distribution beginning at 5 p.m. while supplies last.

This free, family-friendly event combines Halloween fun with a car and truck show. Families can enjoy creatively decorated vehicles, live music, and the festive atmosphere.

Plantation Walk merchants will also select the top five Halloween-themed vehicles to receive trophies.

One of the best things about this event is that admission and parking are free, and everyone is welcome. It's a great option for families from Plantation, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Sunrise, Davie, and other surrounding communities.

The event is outdoors and pet-friendly. However, outside food, beverages, and coolers are not permitted.

For those interested in participating with a decorated car or truck, vehicles can begin arriving at 2 p.m. Drivers must bring a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

Parking is available at 200 NW 82nd Avenue.

City of Plantation Trunk-or-Treat at Pine Island Park

The City of Plantation's annual Trunk-Or-Treat takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pine Island Park, 320 S. Pine Island Road.

The evening includes trick-or-treating, a costume contest, arts and crafts, and other Halloween activities for children and families.

As explained earlier, this year's event is limited to Plantation residents only.

According to the city's October 1 Plantation Now! newsletter, the decision was made because the event has grown beyond what the city can safely and comfortably accommodate.

The event information does not specify how residency will be verified or whether advance registration is required. I recommend calling (954) 797-2180 before attending to confirm the requirements.

The city is also inviting local businesses, organizations, and community groups to participate by sponsoring and decorating a trunk. If your business or organization would like to get involved, participation information is available on the city's event page.

Can You Attend Both Trunk or Treat Events?

Absolutely, depending on where you live!

If you're a Plantation resident, you could start at Plantation Walk around 5 p.m. when candy distribution begins, then head over to Pine Island Park for the city's Trunk-or-Treat festivities beginning at 6 p.m. Both events end at 8 p.m.

If you're bringing family or friends who live outside Plantation, Plantation Walk may be the better option since it's open to everyone.

And if you're participating in the car show with a decorated vehicle, remember that arrival begins at 2 p.m., so you'll want to plan your afternoon accordingly.

Whichever event you choose, a little planning can help make the evening more enjoyable for everyone.

Halloween Night in Plantation – Saturday, October 31

The Halloween fun doesn't end with the October 24 celebrations!

Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31, 2026, and Plantation Walk is hosting a Halloween Costume Contest from 6 to 10 p.m. at Plantation Walk Plaza.

If your children love dressing up, this is another opportunity to show off their costumes and enjoy the Halloween atmosphere.

The contest will feature cash and gift-card prizes provided by Plantation Walk.

It's a fun way to wrap up the Halloween season, especially for families who enjoy participating in more than one celebration.

Looking Ahead: November Events in Plantation

As Halloween comes to an end, Plantation's community calendar continues with concerts, family activities, and the beginning of the holiday season.

Here are a few upcoming events to keep on your calendar:

  • Friday, November 6: The City of Plantation's Rock The Park Free Concert Series, from 7 to 10 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 11: Veterans Day Service, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by Wednesday Food Trucks from 5 to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 14: Plantation Walk Touch A Truck, from noon to 4 p.m. Families can get an up-close look at first-responder trucks and other vehicles at Plantation Walk Plaza. Admission and parking are free.
  • Beginning Friday, November 27: Plantation Walk Holiday Nights kicks off from 5 to 9 p.m. The festivities continue November 28, December 4–6, 11–13, 18–20, and 23–24.

With so many activities taking place throughout October and November, there are plenty of opportunities to spend time with family, connect with neighbors, and enjoy the Plantation community.

A Few Final Tips Before You Go

Before heading out to any of these events, I recommend confirming the details, especially for activities that require registration or have residency restrictions.

For Pumpkin Patch in the Pool, call (954) 452-2525 to register and confirm availability.

For the City of Plantation's Trunk-or-Treat at Pine Island Park, call (954) 797-2180 to confirm residency requirements and any additional attendance guidelines.

A quick phone call ahead of time can save you the disappointment of arriving at an event you aren't eligible to attend.
